49ers OLB Aldon Smith was stabbed in a Friday evening incident at a house party in Santa Clara (CA), but escaped with only "minor injuries."
"We are in contact with Aldon and thankful that his injuries were not more serious and that he is recovering comfortably," the team said in a statement. "The 49ers are also in communication with local authorities as they gather information regarding the incident." According to CSN Bay Area, Smith was at a party where two other people were shot, but neither victim suffered life-threatening injuries. Smith's role in the incident remains unclear. The off-the-field issue is Smith's second of the offseason after a January DUI arrest on Miami Beach.
