FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- Michael Vick has left the Philadelphia Eagles' preseason game in the first quarter after being leveled on a pass play.

The quarterback went to the locker room for X-rays on his ribs.

Vick got up after heaving a deep pass Monday night before being knocked down by New England Patriots linebacker Jermaine Cunningham. Then Vick knelt on one knee while surrounded by medical personnel, got up and walked to the sideline under his own power with 6:01 left in the quarter.

The swelling in Michael Vick's throwing thumb is "way down," and he's expected to return to practice on Saturday.

Eagles are going to be on a mission. AR sons passing is even more juice. Always worry if Vick will make it thru a game. But now after 1 yr. together this team will be nothing like last yr. That D will be a machine. Watch out all..This is a team to fear. As with any contender as long as other players step up thru injuries they'll be there in Jan. Go Eagles!!

They never doubted his week 1 readiness. Will he be there a whole year. I do not think so. They at the skins will be fighting it out for 3rd. They are great to talk about though for the media. Nnamdi is showing now that he is watched more that he in fact can not cover or tackle

Vick leaves game with hand injury - Yahoo! Sports

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Mike Vick left Thursday's preseason game against Pittsburgh on Thursday in Philadelphia after he hit his left (throwing) hand on a helmet after throwing a pass in the second quarter.

The Eagles announced that X-rays on Vick's left thumb were negative, although it's unclear whether the injury will cause Vick to miss any practice time.

Vick had said earlier he was going to try do whatever he could to avoid injuries. He was limited to 13 games last season because of various injuries, including a concussion and broken ribs
