  • Giants running back Andre Brown breaks fibula Sunday night, likely done for season

Andre Brown's amazing success story of 2012 might be at an end: The Giants running back broke his fibula during Sunday night's 38-10 victory against the Packers.

Tom Coughlin informed the media of Brown's injury after the game and clearly looked disappointed to be passing along the news. It's hard to blame him: Brown has been fantastic on the field this season, scoring eight touchdowns for the Giants in a backup/goal-line role.

Brown carried the ball 13 times for 64 yards Sunday against Green Bay, finding the end zone in the first quarter, his fifth consecutive game with a touchdown this season.

The worst part about the injury might be the back's off-the-field story. Brown's on his fifth different team since the Giants drafted him in the fourth round of the 2009 draft and emerged when Ahmad Bradshaw left the game against Tampa Bay in Week 2.

After a pair of great games early in the season, Brown missed a few weeks with injury but re-emerged in Week 7 as a dangerous goal-line back. He has scored every week since and was starting to put up good yardage totals.

But now, with the broken leg, it's reasonable to assume the Giants will be forced to lean on Bradshaw more frequently and hope that rookie David Wilson can step up down the stretch.
