  • Ryan Broyles tears right ACL, done for season

Lions WR Ryan Broyles has been diagnosed with a torn right ACL, and is done for the season.
The silver lining is that it's not the same ACL Broyles tore as a senior at Oklahoma, but it's still a crushing blow for a rookie who was coming on strong. The 24-year-old slot machine will now be up against it to be ready for Week 1 next season, and considering his history of knee woes, could miss significant time in 2013. It's a cruel twist of fate for the NCAA's all-time receptions leader. It's also a major loss for a Lions' passing attack that had finally started to resemble its elite 2011 form after benching malcontent Titus Young for Broyles. According to coach Jim Schwartz, Young is not under consideration to reclaim his job. Mike Thomas will get the first crack at starting opposite Calvin Johnson.
