  • Bucs, WR Mike Williams reach $40M extension

Bucs re-signed WR Mike Williams to a six-year, $40.25 million contract, including $15 million guaranteed.
Williams had one year left on his rookie deal, so it's really a five-year extension through 2018. A 2010 fourth-round pick, Williams has been a solid red-zone weapon and No. 2 wideout, using his 6'2/212 frame and strong ball skills to set a franchise record with 23 touchdowns in his first three seasons. Williams has never reached 1,000 yards, but has gone for 900-plus twice and never missed a game. The $6.70 million average annual value is similar to the value of deals signed by Brian Hartline and Danny Amendola. "Syracuse Mike" rightfully didn't get Dwayne Bowe or Greg Jennings money, but we'd chalk this up as another win for Bucs GM Mark Dominik. Williams is only 26 with room to keep ascending.
