Sources tell the Star-Ledger that David Wilson (neck) is expected to be placed on injured reserve Thursday, ending his season.
The next evaluation on Wilson's neck won't come for several weeks. And with the Giants needing to free up a roster spot for Andre Brown, they can't sit around and wait. So Wilson's second NFL season ends as one of the more disappointing campaigns from a supremely talented player in recent memory. He rushed 44 times for 146 yards (3.31 YPC) with one touchdown in five games, struggling again with fumbles and pass protection. The Giants will move forward with Andre Brown, Peyton Hillis and Brandon Jacobs in their backfield. Wilson will be back in 2014 as a prime bounce-back candidate.
