  • Longtime Falcons RB Snelling hangs 'em up

Falcons RB Jason Snelling is retiring from football.
The 244th pick in the 2007 draft, Snelling spent his entire career as a backup with the Falcons. He hangs up his cleats the owner of a 3.9 YPC over 363 lifetime carries. A solid pass catcher and blitz protector, Snelling totaled nearly as many receptions (60) as rushes (62) over the past two seasons. Now on the wrong side of 30, Snelling is going out on his own terms. His $1.375 million salary made him a candidate for release. Look for Atlanta to supplement its backfield with young talent via the draft. Steven Jackson is in steep decline, and Jacquizz Rodgers is a change-of-pace back.
