  • Lions lock up Joique Bell for 3 years, $9.3M

Lions re-signed RB Joique Bell to a three-year, $9.3 million contract.
Bell was a restricted free agent that the Lions could have retained on a one-year, second-round tender of $2.187 million. Instead, they're locking him up through 2016 and giving him $4.3 million guaranteed -- more guaranteed money than Reggie Bush got a year ago. It's another sign of how high the Lions are on Bell as an emerging front-line back in a revised offense that will feature less shotgun and more traditional formations under new coach Jim Caldwell. Bell, an underrated talent who is averaging 4.29 YPC and 9.82 yards per reception in his two-year career, is going to be a major part of this this timeshare.
