  • Report: NFL could re-open case vs. Ray Rice

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello says the NFL had not seen the video of Ray Rice knocking out his then-fiancee in a New Jersey elevator when it suspended Rice two games for domestic violence.
A new video was leaked Monday that showed Rice and then-fiancee (now wife) Janay Palmer in a New Jersey hotel casino elevator. Rice throws a left hook to Palmer's face, knocking her out cold before dragging her limp body out of the elevator. Multiple media outlets have suggested that the NFL could re-open the case against Rice. He's eligible to return to the team on Friday, following the Ravens' Week 2 game on Thursday night. Commissioner Roger Goodell could hand down further discipline. Rice is lucky he isn't in jail.

    Ravens released RB Ray Rice.
The move comes hours after video surfaced of Rice's brutal February assault of his fiancée (and now wife). The Ravens had previously shown unconditional support for their longtime No. 1 back, but Yahoo's Dan Wetzel reports Rice's version of events "didn't match with the video." In other words, he lied to the team and commissioner Roger Goodell. It's still disconcerting that all parties involved knew Rice had knocked out his fiancée, but weren't sufficiently shocked until seeing the video. Considering the mounting outrage against the league's handling of domestic violence and Rice's declining on-field play, it's quite possible he's played his final NFL snap
