  • Chip Kelly wins power struggle with Roseman

The Eagles announced on Friday coach Chip Kelly will oversee the team's player personnel department.
An internal power struggle came to a head when ex-VP of player personnel Tom Gamble was fired by GM Howie Roseman on Tuesday. Gamble was brought over from San Francisco when Kelly was hired, and his firing was thought to be a power grab by Roseman. It did not work. In the aftermath, Roseman was "promoted" to Executive VP of Football Operations, where he will be limited to contract negotiations and cap management. Kelly now has almost complete control over the shaping of the Eagles' 53-man roster, and will lead the search for Gamble's replacement. Current Eagles assistant director of player personnel Ed Marynowitz is the early favorite to replace Gamble.
