  • Eagles Sign Fletcher Cox To 6 Years $103 Million Extension

Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Fletcher Cox gets six-year extension

Fletcher Cox has agreed to terms on a six-year contract extension through 2022 with the Philadelphia Eagles, the team announced Monday.

The deal is worth $103 million with $63 million in guaranteed money, sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. That means the Pro Bowl defensive lineman will have the highest guarantee for a non-quarterback in NFL history.

Cox had skipped the previous month of organized team activities as he and his agent tried to work out a long-term contract with the Eagles. The 25-year-old reported to the NovaCare Complex a week ago.

Cox, a first-round pick in 2012, went to the Pro Bowl this year after recording a career-high 9.5 sacks in 2015. According to ESPN Stats & Information, Cox led the Eagles by making 24 tackles for a loss or no gain last season. In his four-year career, Cox has 22 sacks and six fumble recoveries.

After three seasons as a defensive end in a 3-4 scheme, Cox is expected to return to defensive tackle in coordinator Jim Schwartz's 4-3 defense.
