Channing Tatum's Gambit Movie is Reportedly Official - IGN
It looks like X-Men's Ragin' Cajun is getting his own movie. Channing Tatum has reportedly signed on to star as the card-throwing mutant with Robocop writer Josh Zetumer slatted to pen the adaptation for Fox.
According to Deadline, the X-Men spinoff movie featuring Gambit is on track, but has not yet been given a release date yet. X-Men: Days of Future Past's Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner will produce, with Tatum's Magic Mike collaborator Reid Carolin.
The script is reportedly adapting a treatment by co-creator Chris Claremont, who debuted the character with penciller Jim Lee back in 1990. Gambit has the power to charge matter with kinetic energy and use it as an explosive.
Wolverine aside, Fox's upcoming solo X-Men films will focus on characters created in the 1990s, with both Deadpool (who has a movie set for 2016) and now Gambit.
