Daniel Bruhl Cast as Villain in Captain America: Civil War - IGN

Daniel Bruhl (Rush, Inglourious Basterds) has been cast as the villain in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War.

Marvel announced the casting, with Deadline following up that the actor is playing the villain in the film. The site adds that in addition to Chris Evans and Robert Downey, Jr. starring in the project as Cap and Iron Man respectively, and Chadwick Boseman making his debut as Black Panther, Sebastian Stan, Samuel L. Jackson, and Scarlett Johansson are all expected to reprise their roles as well.

Meanwhile, Variety says their sources claim that Bruhl is not the main villain in Civil War but “could potentially be the top menace in Marvel’s Dr. Strange.” Hmmm... Since Downey, Jr. will presumably already be serving as an antagonistic force to Cap, you have to wonder how many villains or how big the villain's role will be in Civil War anyway.

“With Daniel's ability to deliver intense, nuanced performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes,” said producer Kevin Feige.

Now the questions is, which villain is Bruhl playing…?

Joe and Anthony Russo, who directed Winter Soldier, return to the helm of Captain America 3. The film is scheduled for release on May 6, 2016. Deadline also adds that word on the street continues to be that the directing duo will likely take over the Avengers: Infinity War sequels after Joss Whedon completes his run with Age of Ultron.
