I thought it might help y'all to get to know me if I posted some info. about myself. So, here goes ---
PERSONAL INFO. - I'm 60 years old. Been married to my wife, Brenda, 35 years come August 13,2011. We had three daughters, but lost our youngest May 29,2003 (she was about 1 1/2 months short of 21). We now also have two son-in-laws, and five grand kids (3 boys 2 girls - ages 10,9 1/2,4, 3, & almost 2). We're raising the 9 1/2 year old, he was the youngest daughters son.
I retired from Education (teacher/administrator) June, 2010 after 37 years. Right now I'm taking it easy, but sometime in the future I might go job hunting. This past school year I subbed about 30 days.
When my girls were young I helped coach, sometimes, their recreation softball teams. I coached the JV SOFTBALL team at Windsor High School for ten (10) years. My overall W-L record was 68-44-1. My best season record was 13-2, and my worst was 3-6. After my 2nd season as JV coach the JV didn't have another losing season while I coached. In the last few years I've been one of the coaches for the 9 1/2 year old grandson's teams.
At one time I bowled in DUCKPIN bowling leagues (for about 30 years). I gave that up about 20 years ago (was hurting my leg & back). I now and then play golf & chess. My favorite sport to watch on TV, and go to in person, is BASEBALL. To me, there is no other sport that compares to baseball. I really like the game.
I am active in the church we attend. Currently I do these things - moderator at business meetings, substitute Sunday School teacher, do the laptop in church services (projects things on the screen for the congregation), vice chairman of the Deacons, driver of van/bus for some church activities, and there might be something I left out.
CARD TRADING/COLLECTING --- I collected cards as a kid. But in 1965 when we moved from Norfolk to Chesapeake I gave my approx. 3,000 baseball cards to the lady who helped clean the house weekly, to give to her 5 year old son (I was 14 then and didn't see the need to keep those 1955-1965 cards). Who knew that years later they would have $$$ value.
I got back into collecting in August, 1991 after taking my three daughters (13,11,& 9) to theit 1st MLB game - 8/11/91 O's v. W. Sox at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore - Wilson Alvarez NO-HIT the "BIRDS", and it was their 1st MLB game. My daughters even collected for a while after that.
I used to keep track of how many trades I'd made over various sites, but I gave that up years ago. I have traded, to the best of my memory, on four sites (still active on three of them, but mainly here at CCW more than the others). I made the traders HOF on three of those sites (including here). The one I don't have HOF status on DOESN'T have a HOF.
I've served as a GLOBAL MOD at another site for many years, and had briefly served here in the recent past.
AS A MOD --- As a baseball mod here at CCW I will try to help the baseball forum to be run smoothly. If I see things that I think are wrong, incorrect, inappropriate, unnecessary, misleading, etc. I'll try to see that they get changed, deleted, removed, or whatever else needs to be done to them so that they don't cause problems. Also, I'll try to help those who need assistance the best I can. Now and then I may even run a baseball TRIVIA contest.
CLOSING ---Well that does it for now. THANKS for taking the time to read this. I hope by doing so that you now know me a little better. Have fun dealing and trading here in the BASEBALL FORUM of CCW. I hope we can, if we haven't already, work out a deal/trade sometime. Have fun !!!!!!
NOTE : If you're trading with me, just to let you know, I don't have an entire list of what I have available (many threads though) or scans. Since I don't have them, I don't ask for them. That's why I ask who/what interests you, so I can see and list (if necessary) what I have. Therefore, please DO NOT ask me about site, bucket, or scans. I trust my fellow trader, until something happens and it's no longer possible to do so, and I expect them/you to trust me.
Rodney
