  • Through the mail / In person auto draft?

Has there ever been a draft for cards autographed obtained through the mail or in person (therefore no certification of authent.)

    Would there be any interest?

I go through phases where I collect TTM for a while and then slow down and get back into it.
Favorite baseball players include: Mike Schmidt, Steve Carlton, Kirby Puckett, Pete Rose, Tyler Colvin Mark Appel
Favorite football players include: Peyton Manning, John Elway, Daunte Culpepper, Mike Alstott, Blake Bortles, and Dri Archer
Collecting: 2012 Topps Mini 1987 topps... non-certified autos (in person or through the mail), autographed cards with bible verses

That would be an interesting concept for sure. Only thing I would worry about is if someone shady tried to join and started signing forgeries and passing them off as TTMs.

That was my thought too. I guess my thought is that I would go into it knowing that is a possibility, but I don't think many of the members in here would do it. Plus, a TTM or IM autograph is really more for personal value to a collection, not necessarily $$$.

You and I might have to fight over the fightin Phils.....

By the way BIG Poppa, I just got a few Larry Bowa, Eric Valent, and Keith Hughes cards in the mail yesterday TTM. I have some extras. If interested, I'll send them your way.

I agree completely with your points. I'm just always worried about "that guy" who always seems to be a troublemaker in a group lol.

Appreciate the gesture, but i've taken a break from TTMing at the moment. I do need to get your Twinkies and Gnats cards together though lol.

I think this would be a great idea for a draft. but the complications regarding forgery would probably come into play. Good idea though!

You should only allow trusted members to join. Check my bucket, I have hundreds of TTM index cards and baseball cards that I have personally sent in. I have kept all the return envelopes as proof of legitamacy. Note: some were purchased from other "trusted" collectors so I dont have the envelopes for all of them.
I collect a little bit of everything. But, if I never get back to you, your probably on Ignore!!

Most of my TTM Autos I have gotten (I havent really tried in 7 years) are PC stuff now and probably mean more to me than to someone else.

A lot of good points on this thread by everyone.

I'd be happy to participate. As a TTMer, I often send 3 at a time so I end up with extras. I'm sure most TTMers are the same way. Being an "old schooler", I collect a lot of them from the 70's - 90's as well.

I usually sent 1 card and 1 custom index card. There were exceptions though and I have ten here that I had multiples of. I kept the older issue of the player for myself.

                    74 topps Dan Fife (Twins)
79 Topps Dick Drago (Red Sox)
                    81 Topps Jerry Reuss (Dodgers)
                    85 Topps Dave Dravecky (Padres)
                    85 Topps Bryn Smith (Expos)
                    85 Topps Joe Nolan (Orioles)
                    85 Topps Mike Armstrong (Yankees)
                    90 Donruss Bob Kipper (Pirates)
                    90 Donruss Scott Bailes (Indians)
                    92 Donruss Shawon Dunston (Cubs)

Those are what I would have to offer for a draft. Dave

I dont really have any football. But I dont guess that would be a problem if you guys dont mind me submitting baseball only.

I'd be happy to do multisport. I have probably 80% baseball 18% football, and 2% basketball.

I will have to look to see what I have at home. I know I have some, but not sure on a couple. I bought a lot of stuff back in the day, but most was Red Sox. How many are we talking? Like 10? Not sure I have 10. I will try and pull together what I have. Would minor league stuff be acceptable? I only ask as I went to one with the Monarchs in NH (affiliated with the Kings), and got a few autos there. LMK what the parameters of the draft would be. Might be interested.

Collecting any Boston Sports (base, insert,GU,Auto) All Teams (Red Sox,Celtics,Patriots,Bruins)
                              Also collect UNH Football/Hockey cards
Also now collecting any cards including all dupes of all the following :
MLB : Brian Wilson (Giants, Dodgers), Chris Carpenter (Blue Jays, Cardinals), Sam Fuld (Rays), Mike Flanagan (Orioles, Blue Jays), Phil Plantier (Padres, Red Sox), Jeff Locke (Pirates)
NFL : Kendall Reyes (Chargers), Greg Landry (Lions), David Ball (Bears), Jerry Azumah (Bears), Dwayne Sabb (Patriots), Dan Kreider (Steelers), Ricky Santos (no pro cards)
                              NBA : Matt Bonner (Spurs)
NHL : Steve Leach, James VanRiemsDyk, Jason Krog, Eric Boguniecki, Andy Brickley, Ty Conklin, Kevin Dean, Rod Langway, Bryan Muir, Daniel Winnik
I unfortunately can no longer afford to trade outside the US. Even rates to Canada are way too high now!
