Need Advice

Never run into this before. Bought a card from eBay and when it arrived, I swear there are tire tracks on the bubble mailer. The card is a playbook booklet auto and the case is smashed to pieces and the card is ruined. Is there anything that can be done about this? Not really sellers fault nor mine. So who is responsible? Sorry if in wrong place, but this is where all the action on this site is. Lol

Since you bought it from EBAY, you do have paypal protection on it. By any chance was the package insured?

It was not insured. Just mailed first class with dc number and bubble mailer

If it was insured, then you're good, and the seller is good...

If not, then unfortunately, one of you loses out.

Either you take the hit, or the seller does....

I hate situations like this. Nobody involved in the transaction is at fault. Good Luck

I have had that happen before. what I did was asked seller to split the loss with me rather than only one taking the hit since no one was to blame. At least doesnt sting for either but is up to you what happens basically with buyer protection.

You could always try calling the card company and explain what happened and maybe they will help you out. don't expect much, but it is worth a try.

If you can't get anything from the card company, I'd go with trying to split cost with the seller. If he / she refuses, then I'd go through eBay / PayPal channels and get all your money back. It sucks as a seller sometime, but buyers have nearly all the protections on eBay.

Wouldn't hurt to notify the seller....tell him what happened, and maybe he'll feel sympathetic enough to give you at least a partial refund.
Its worth a shot.

...and what's the deal with Paypal protection?....is that included on all purchases or is it an additional cost, like USPS insurance?

Buying it on threw ebay your 100% covered for any reason. Really you could get all your money back you paid. I would send the seller scans and ask him to split it with you and you keep the card or you can send it back for a full refund.

Paypal protection is for the buyer pretty much what it comes down to is even you have down no refunds or returns it don't matter. If a case is open up and you give pretty much any reason paypal will side with buyer and tell the buyer to mail back the item and you will be refunded by the seller or ebay will take the money out of the sellers account and give it to you.

Well I appreciate all the responses. I would hate if someone did that to me if I were the seller. It's a PC Card so I think I will just eat it. Morally I think this is the right decision. And again thanks for all the info. Karma. Maybe it will come back to me in a good way. Lol

Wow...that case is demolished!! Luckily it was just some scratches on the outside, and not bends and creases thru the whole card.
