  • Topps Unveils Plans for 2011 Marquee

Topps announced plans for another new issue on Tuesday, an autograph and relic-focused hobby only product designed to appeal to the collector who likes higher end products but not the higher end price.

2011 Topps Marquee will be released the week of August 22, according to the company's sell sheet.

There will be five cards per pack, or mini box, with each containing one numbered autograph card or one jumbo or multi-relic card.* Each display box will contain four of the packs/mini boxes and there will be 12 boxes per case.

Topps is promoting the fact that each case will contain what it has labeled a Museum Collection Autograph Card numbered to 10 and packaged in a metal frame.

Each of the images released Tuesday seems to indicate Topps will make good use of the vintage color photographs at its disposal.* The cards appear clean and uncluttered and Topps managed to create a bit of a photographic aura around some of the photos.

Dealer cost will be around $33 per pack/mini box.* Topps says the product will have "something for everyone at a mid-range price point".

The on card autograph checklist will include Hank Aaron, Sandy Koufax and Albert Pujols.

The base set will consist of just 100 cards and there will be four parallels for each, ranging from 1/1 Platinum to 1/299 Blue.
