So, in college, and this was a while back, I met my wife. She lived in an dorm on-campus, and it was an all girls dorm. I hung out there a lot when we were dating, and got to know a lot of the ladies.
One of the ladies last name was Stanley. Did not even think to make any sort of connection there whatsoever with the name being relatively common.
So, we were all hanging around one night, and talking baseball and sports and family and all sorts of stuff. Come to find out, this girl was Bob Stanley's neice! So, how cool is that! Yeah, Stanley was no spectacular player, but he played for the Red Sox, and he lives local in NH.
After graduation, we all still kept in touch (as we still do). I was talking to her just about nothing in particular, and she knew that I collected sports memorabilia. She mentioned that she was going to see her Uncle Bob in a couple of weeks, and asked if I wanted to have anything signed? So, I was like yeah, absolutely. When I got home that night I put together a small lot of Stanley cards to have him sign.
About 1 1/2 weeks later, I received a package in the mail. It was from her and it was all the cards signed. It was so cool! Not a true TTM as I do not have and did not ask for his address. But, it was so cool to get them in the mail.
Thanks to Uncle Bob! Maybe someday I will get to meet him! Like at her wedding! That would be very very cool!
