  • It's not just my birthday...

Have you ever wondered what other sporting events took place on your special day?

A few days ago I couldn't sleep, so I searched the internet and found out that...

On September 1st,1964... Masanori Murakami became the first Japanese player to play in the MLB.

On September 1st, 1966... Tim Hardaway was born.

On September 1st, 1972... Mama Fuji brought me into this world and the Oakland A's beat the Detroit Tigers with the help of a Joe Rudi home run. Ken Holtzman received the win and Rollie Fingers earned the save.

On September 1st, 1975... Tom Seaver became the first pitcher in MLB history to strike out 200 batters eight consecutive seasons.

On September 1st, 1981... J.R. Richard is placed on the Astros' 40-man active roster less than 14 months after he suffered a major stroke.

On September 1st, 1989... A. Bartlett Giamatti passed away just eight days after banning Pete Rose from baseball.

Gotta love the amount of information found on the internet. It's pretty exciting to know that my birthday is the anniversary of so many cool sporting events.

It's your turn to utilize Google.

What interesting sporting events occurred on your special day?

I hope all of you are enjoying your holiday weekend. Happy Saturday & sayonara!
