  • My First Printing Plate

I've always wanted a printing plate for my collection. Printing plates transfer images to the paper on a printing press. It's how trading card companies like Topps, Panini, and Upper Deck make their cards. Then they include some into their products.

Printing plates always seem to be way out of my price range since they are all numbered out of 1. But a couple months ago, I randomly searched for "Printing Plates" on eBay just to see if I could find one cheap.

There it was. A Dodger printing plate for under $10.

    O-Dawg.

The card comes from the 2009 Topp T-206 set and it's a magenta printing plate.

Even though Orlando Hudson only played one season with the Dodgers, he quickly became a fan favorite in 2009. His very first game at Dodger Stadium (Opening Day), Hudson hit for the cycle. The Dodgers couldn't really find a good hitting 2B since Jeff Kent retired but I have no idea why the Dodgers didn't offer Hudson a contract the following season.

My first of many plates hopefully.
