Many of my longtime readers may remember when I declared that I was starting a collection of the 2008-09 Topps Chrome product. That post can be viewed here. I have learned a lot since those days, and have realized that to obtain this goal, I'm going to have to scale back a bit.
At first, I wanted to collect the whole product: base set, base rookie autos, Youthquake autos, 58-59 variation autos, but now I realize that it was foolish of me to think I could accomplish that Mt. Everest of a task. I have decided that I first want to collect the entire base set, including the base rookie autographs. I think that is a realistic goal, although some rookie autographs will be very hard for me to obtain, but the challenge is what makes set building fun.
After I complete the base set, I might go after the Youthquake autos, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. I played around with the idea of trying to collect all of the X-Fractor parallels, but I decided that would be too difficult to track down all of those. If I happen to pick up an X-Fractor or two as a part of my base set, I will gladly hang on to it, because I absolutely love the X-Fractors.
This is my first real set building project I have ever taken on, and hopefully 2011 will be more productive than 2010 was.
