  • NBA Finals Jersey Score: Dirk $34,404; Kobe $30,300

The red away shirt donned by LeBron James during Game 3 of the recently completed NBA Finals sold for $15,600 Thursday night.* That was the highest price paid for any single jersey in the NBA's annual auction, but the two jerseys worn by MVP Dirk Nowitzki brought a combined $16,104.

The four*Nowitzki jerseys sold between the two auctions for game-worn gear from Games 1 and 3 sold for $34,404--compared to the $30,300 collectors spend on the two that sat on the back of James.

Nowitzki, who changes jerseys at halftime, saw his Game 3 home white Mavericks jerseys sell for $8055 and $8049 respectively.

Bidding for the jerseys worn by players on both teams during the Finals began at $250 on the NBA's auction site and was conducted by MeiGray, which has the contract to sell items from high profile NBA events.

One of Nowitzki's jerseys drew 43 bids.* Most of the others generated 10-15 bids.

Dwayne Wade's #3 jersey from Game 3 sold for $9360.* Other sales from the Game 3 auction included:* Jason Kidd $5820; Chris Bosh $2996 and J.J. Barea $2427.

Crazy that some people would actually pay that much for it.

Is this the first time finals jerseys have been auctioned by the NBA? I haven't heard of these auctions before this year.
