  • 2013 Topps Archives

I recently purchased 2 blaster boxes of 2013 Topps Archives from Walmart. I don't know how I feel about it. I really loved 2012 Topps Chrome inserts of "Tall Boys and "1984"! The design stayed the course and was true to the vintage cards. Yet the card stock and feel were superior. And it was done in Chrome. Archives was done true to the vintage cards, in my humble opinion too true. I would love to see the same designs with modern stock and a modern touch to it. I did get 2 hits, Peyton Manning Red Parallel and a John Elway gold Parallel. I did enjoy the mini glossy cards, I got 4, Tom Brady, Ray Lewis, Darren McFadden, and Doug Martin. The most interesting card were the pop ups, I got a Jared Allen and Jim Brown. Please note; "Once you find these, it is pertinent that they immediately go into a penny sleeve and then a top loader". They are extremely FRAGILE and can seperate very easily! Besides my goal to purchase a complete 1984 set, I'll look into one of the many different years that are portrayed in 2013 Archives!

I got a couple of blasters, too.

Pulled a Fan Favorite auto from each one! Jim Zorn & Kenny Anderson (the Anderson has a bad corner that I'll need to replace).

Got a couple of the 1000 Yard Club cards. A.J. Green & Jerry Rice.

There were also 2 of the 1970 Glossy cards. I got Joe Namath & Reggie Bush on those.

And, I'm not sure what these are called yet. But I got 2 cards that kinda look like refractors in the 1985 style cards of Jerry Rice & Peyton Manning.

All in all not too bad.

Kinda disappointed that one of the autos is damaged, but I beat the odds by getting one per box.

I collect Calvin, Barry, 1 auto each of rookie Lions that make the team & HOF auto & GU.

WOW! You did extremely well with your purchase! The odds of pulling a retail box with autos are really slim! Sounds like you got a winning combination on your pulls! I've sent back damaged products to Panini, they are absolutely amazing in customer relations and turn around time. My damaged card was a 2012 Panini Prominence Numbered Marshawn Lynch Gold Foil. They said they would destroy my card and reissue another stamped with the same numbers. Let me know how Topps takes care of your card.

          Well...

I got a package from Topps the other day.

They returned my card. The same one that I sent in. No note, explaining why they couldn't/wouldn't replace it. Seems like they took it out of the envelope I sent, stuck it into an envelope addressed back to me & mailed it back out.

          VERY disappointed.

I tried to make contact on their website twice & commented on their Facebook page once. No responses to any of those attempts.

          Gonna try calling next.

That is the most unprofessional thing I've ever heard of in my life! I don't care what type of business you own! You just don't do things in that manner! Now, after hearing of your treatment by Topps, it makes members on this site think twice about their products. This is a extremely bad reflection on them.

I'm not PRO Panini but, when I email them, they return my email the very next day. It can be a simple compliment! At least they reply back with a simple; "Thank You"! Well? Lets see where this goes next. Keep everyone up to date with any progress or in your case non-progress. I'll ask my older brother if i need to in the very near future on what can be done, he's an retired attorney!

I've been afraid to buy a blaster box of these, but now that I see them, they really don't look all that bad!

Always looking for Philip Rivers that I don't have, Luke Kuechly, and a RC of a player that I do not have between 2006-present.

Yes, they don't look too bad. My only issue with these cards are that, it's printed on sub par card stock. Now don't take my criticism too harshly, but I tend to favor a thicker, firmer card stock. I do understand that Topps is trying to recreate cards from their past, in this case a identical product with new players.

As a example? If you take a look at the release of 2012 Topps Chrome, several throwback cards have the design of past cards, yet it has the modern look and feel of Chrome. I like these type of products! Merging the old with the new. Upper Deck does this well with their throwback items.

Yes, I agree with you of certain products that we as collectors will hesitate on purchasing new releases. I utilize retail outlets like Walmart, K-Mart, and Target. It allows me to test a product with a inexpensive purchase. If I really like the product, it is at that point where my decision will lean towards the hobby cards.

Yes, I agree with you wholeheartedly of the past design. You have been collecting for many years, I've just started collecting cards recently. These type of cards allows a novice like myself to do some research and see the original issues. It is very enlightening.
