Doug Martin 2012 Topps SSP???

So.. just out of curiosity I wanted to see what the SP variation of Topps 2012 Doug Martin was selling for on eBay. I put in the search Doug Martin Topps SP. I was surprised at what I saw. Here is a picture of the base set RC:



Here is a photo of the SP variation I see on eBay:



And here is a photo of the SP card I have:



Notice, they are all TOPPS, not Chrome, Platinum, Strata, etc. (You can click on image to enlarge it) I counted 12 listings for the 2nd picture and 2 listed of the 3rd on eBay. I looked at Beckett for the listings of 2012 Topps SP Doug Martin and there are 2 that caught my eye. Topps #204B - photo #2 and Topps CHROME 147B (Running Pose) which is pictured below:



Now, the "Pose" in my card (Picture 3) and the CHROME card are the same... but mine is NOT CHROME. Like I said, there are 2 others like mine on eBAY right now so they are out there. Does anyone know what's going on with this card???

looks like you do have the high dollar SP & i'm guessing the third one is only available when you buy the factory set box.

The variations are definitely premium priced products. Brett said the same thing that bcw716. He said in the next 12 to 18 months, you'll see a significant rise for '12 Topps and '12 Topps Chrome. I have only one set of SP's. I've included a picture below.

Here's another good comment that Brett mentioned, all 2012 Topps Chrome products that have not been opened are selling at 20% to 25% above last years prices. Chrome is becoming harder and harder to find, so what is available to collectors now is selling at extremely high prices and will only continue this trend. Most factory sets with the inserts you've have questions on are also rapidly disappearing!

What I did last night was to see if anyone on eBay were still selling 2012 Topps Chrome complete sets. At the start of 2013, you could find several sellers offering '12 Chrome complete sets. I could only find one or two sets on eBay. This is my way in finding out how the market trends are moving. The SP and or SSP have become extinct at this point. Whom ever sells these SP/SSP are asking for astronomical prices if you can even find them.

Brett's number one collecting product is Topps Chrome, I know he has several complete sets that date back 10 or more years. His final comment was that you need to hang on to these cards. He never realized the prices back then as he was young, now he knows how high the cards sell at. I hope this helps!
