  • 2013 Momentum & Certified (Answers to Toshi's Issues)

    To Forum Members,

Several members have left "Get Well" messages and have been sending cards in to Toshi. Members are also inquiring on his health and what or why is Toshi having issues.

First, I want to thank everyone for their heart felt concern. Second, thank you for the cards. Third, instead of answering each member with Toshi's issues, I'll just post them here with his recent pick ups.

Toshi was a very active individual. He played Jazz and has lived in Europe from 1985 to 1990. He was also a Executive Chef, Master Sushi Chef having acquired this skill from the student of the official sushi chef of the Emperor of Japan, was a guest professor for jazz studies at several universities, sold Health and Life Insurance, was a General Contractor building in ground pools, worked in a factory, was a voracious reader of history, and enjoyed his hobby as a philatelic and numismatic. He now obviously enjoys collecting football cards and is a devoted father and husband. It was his last employment in May 5, 2010 as a factory worker that caused him to have his current issues.

250 pounds of board fell on his left side which caused him to fall on his right side into the concrete floor. He was in a coma for several days. Doctors have described his accident as being hit by a linebacker without wearing any safety equipment while landing on concrete as oppose to turf or artificial turf. He has trouble reading, watching television or listening to music for any extended period of time, driving long distances, and other issues that are related to memory and coordination. At first, I was extremely concerned by his inability to perform any physical activities. Currently, although he is limited to certain activities, he has greatly improved.

Due to this work related accident, he will never be employed. So his days are spent going to therapy, caring for our cats, and? Of course collecting football cards! LOL! For several years, doctors have insisted that Toshi find a hobby or an activity that would keep him busy as he fell into depression. Then in December 15, of 2012, we both started to collect football cards. He has not been on this forum for several weeks as he has good days, and bad days. Unfortunately, his good days are far too few, and his bad days tend to be longer than his good days.

Although Toshi's issues might seem drastic, he has made great progress in his recuperation process. And thanks to forum members, he has found a whole new part of life that was unknown to the both of us. This current issue that has made Toshi physically and mentally ill is due to his income to temporarily cease. He use to enjoy our trips to the local card shop to purchase a hobby box here and there, now that his checks have stopped, we have been frugal in our home. I keep telling Toshi that his checks will resume after he gets his evaluation, unfortunately he gets very emotional, and becomes depressed.

I ask forum members to not worry about Toshi. He should be back on the forum in a couple of weeks. How do I know? He is complaining about everything! This is a good sign that he's getting better. So once again, thank you to all forum members for your support. I have picked up one pack of 2013 Panini Momentum and 2013 Panini Certified to cheer up the old and grumpy Japanese man! LOL! We both enjoyed the break.

    Thank you,
    Mrs Toshi

    Mrs. Toshi,
    Thank you for this post!

I (and a few others in our community) have seen Mr. Toshi mention having "issues" & have wondered what he meant by that.

I trust your statement that he will be back soon, since you've watched this roller coaster run its course in the past.

Please let him know that he is missed on the forums & that we look forward to hearing from him soon.

Thank you Dave! I will show him your reply on Saturday. He has been asleep for the better part of Friday which is a good thing. I think he will be ready to be a part of the CCW family in a couple of weeks.

Dave couldn't have put it any better. Thanks again for sharing. It must take a strong family to go through this and keep their spirits up. What company did he work for when the accident happened?

And nice pull on the Knile Davis auto! He should do well in Reid's offense.

Thank you so much for your concern.

Yes, a solid family base always helps in the healing process. Toshi is a stubborn man and will stop at nothing!

Unfortunately, we cannot mention the employers name as this is still under investigation. But, we can discuss Toshi's issues. How strange is this scenario?

          Thank you,
          Mrs. Toshi
