  • Mr. Toshi's mail day

    To my fellow forum members,

First and foremost, I'd like to wish everyone on this forum and those we hold near and dear within our hearts a "Happy Thanksgiving"! This is such an important facet of our lives, family and friends.

I have written a few threads on "Football Talk", I have not been active on "Football Showcase" for some time. This time around, it was not any illness that prevented me from contributing on CCW. The fact was that I've been aggressively plowing eBay for cards that has been on my mind for sometime.

I recently assisted our local card shop proprietor "Collectors Palace" here in Streetsboro, Ohio. He had the opportunity in acquiring a US stamp collection. My first love in collectibles were stamps. So I assisted him in finding the cost of each stamp so that he could sell these stamps on the secondary market. I asked for no compensation as I had such fun in doing so. In the end, he gave me a 2012 Panini Crown Royale "Panini Choice Award" Auto Marshawn Lynch. I was so intrigued by the unique triangular die cut that it made me want to research other unusual cards like the "Panini Choice Award" card.

At first there was a decent amount of these cards. They were the now defunct Pacific brand of cards. What really was a compliment to Pacific's "Cramers Choice Awards" cards were that back then, you could have contacted Pacific and for a small fee, obtain their unique card holders. Viewing these cards (There were only two like this on eBay) online complimented these cards. In person, these cards were pieces of art.

As you all know, my collecting partner are my daughters boyfriend Brett and Mrs. Toshi. She truly enjoys the ripping of packs. For her, eBay was not her cup of tea. As for myself, I enjoyed the hunt and getting exactly what I want. So it's no surprise that when my cards arrive, Mrs. Toshi will view them and that would be that. This time, she was actually very interested to say the least with these cards.

The cards are 1996 Pacific "Cramers Choice Award" Jerry Rice. The second card is a 1999 Pacific "Cramers Choice Award" Brett Favre 031/299. Please review the cards below.

very interesting....im not a big fan of the triangle die cut....but the cases are very unique...I have never seen them before...but my knowledge is limited to well Panini limited...lol....and I have decided not to do the phenom set this year...the cards are very disappointing in design....they look just like others rookie autos of the set just have phenom stamped on them..ugh...
but with all that being said....im not sure of rarity or anything of the two cards you just purchased, but cool lookin none the less

The pun intended was well put and very funny. Yes, this year's limited design does not inspire me to collect this product at all. What I found that's unusual with this years Limited is the fact that all the major sports card producers have had to greatly improve their product design. This was essential for any financial gain due to collectors shying away from 2013 products with such a weak rookie draft class.

These cards in particular within the "Cramers Choice Awards" line are not extremely rare. But they are a very limited item on the secondary market into what is available. The Favre is numbered to 299 respectively. For cards that are produced during the "Sports Card Junk Years" this set truly stands out. I know the BV for the Rice is $20.00 of which I paid half that amount. The Favre BV is $40.00. I also paid half on this card.
To find these cards with the matching card protector is extremely difficult to find. As I mentioned, I found only two.

I must reiterate my previous comment on the Pacific "Cramers Choice Award" product. I found out that these cards are not only rare, but it is one of the most difficult cards to pull. The odds are 1:721. This is only for the non serial numbered cards. With this fact, the serial numbered cards are next to non existent in a pull. My information came from a gentleman whom frequents are LCS. He, like me, is a huge Brett Favre card collector fan. He commented that he owns a Pacific Favre die cut card that is not numbered. He mentioned that my card that is numbered with the Pacific card holder was the first one he's ever seen. He offered me $60.00 for my new Favre card. Of course I declined that offer. I told him I am willing to do a trade. He has a Wild Card 1000 stripe Favre rookie card. I told him I would do that for a trade at which we both laughed since his card is valued at $1,800.00.

I've never seen those cases before. those are really cool. I really like the Cramer's choice cards & I was happy they added them in to Crown Royale. Here are mine:

I also at one time had the gold Matt Schaub /15(I think) & the Jordy Nelson Purple /10(traded that one to Fuser)

          -Brady

Looking for mainly Cowboys, Andy Dalton

            WWWWWWOOOOOOOWWWWWW!!!!

That is an absolutely phenominal collection from the Crown Royale "Panini Choice Awards" inserts! I'm literally speechless. One day, I'll be able to share my collection of such an extensive set of cards as yours. It is a very beautiful and unique set of cards, like you, I'm also glad that Panini has rei-ntroduced Pacific's die cut cards.

I am ecstatic about the Pacific card holders, it truly is a perfect match! Thank you for sharing your cards with me. And thank you for reading my threads and replying as well!
