  • More 2012 complete insert sets

As we all know, I'm somewhat left behind with everyone's football card collection. At first I felt if I would not be able to continue my new hobby as I would forget or not know, what, where, when, how, who, and why my cards were or the reason to as well.

Mrs. Toshi and my very adult children have encouraged me to continue, I've also been inspired by CCW's forum members. Since the 2013 draft class has not been as exciting as the 2012 draft class, I have taken my liberty to occupy myself and my mind in concentrating on rookie cards from 2012.

Since the most sought after and popular cards in general were Topps Chrome, I have decided to collect this product as a complete set. I have included only the three major draftees that have the highest premium in the photos below. If I were to add all of my Chrome cards in the photo, forum members might not see my showcase until 2015!

Below, I have included excerpts of my new and very extensive collection.

Thank you. My intention was never to collect a set as this when I first got into the hobby in 2012. Seeing the popularity of Chrome with collectors made me think twice. My favorite products are Topps Platinum and Panini Certified. These were my first hobby pack purchases. Unfortunately they are difficult to complete and or expensive as well.

Those are some nice ones to collect but like you said you would need a nice job, a wife / husband that doesn't mind your $$$$ Hobby and patience to complete those sets.

Very true! I am lucky in the fact that Mrs. Toshi (She's the boss) takes part in all my purchasing decisions. She loves ripping the packs and finding the big hits. I call her Queen Midas. In general, every pack or hobby box she picks, tends to produce a hit. Our first high end purchase was a 2012 Panini Black. There were two displayed at our LCS. She picked the one out of two that contained a Andrew Luck auto with a 2 color jersey card and a Walter Payton and Matt Forte dual jersey card. For Father's Day, she got me a 2012 Panini Momentum hobby box, she pulled a RGIII auto triple jersey. Her favorite product was the 2012 Panini Totally Certified. She bought two hobby boxes. From this pull she was able to find a Russell Wilson auto jersey redemption and a Alfred Morris auto card.

Other various pulls from her were a 2012 Panini Limited RGIII 4 color prime jersey, 2012 Panini Crown Royale retail RGIII patch, 2012 Panini Certified Doug Martin auto prime team name die cut jersey, and much, much more that I can't remember due to my injury. As you see on this thread, I've gone astray from purchasing hobby boxes. I find that I enjoy purchasing exactly what I want via eBay. Mrs. Toshi is opposed to this venue, she prefers the excitement of not knowing what's in a pack and or hobby boxes. That's great if you have such luck as Mrs. Toshi. I've made some purchases that were horrible at best. The only worthwhile item was a pack chosen by the proprietor of our LCS. It was a 2013 Panini Prestige. From this simple break, I procured a Leon Sandcastle auto 12/21. That was my biggest hit so far.

I'm working on adding a complete quarterback rookie reprint set from the 2012 Topps Chrome. I'm also contemplating looking into acquiring a complete rookie die cut set as well as a complete rookie x-fractor set from the 2012 Topps Platinum. I'm probably going to change my direction in regards to the two Platinum sets and look into a 2012 Panini Crown Royale or a 2012 Panini Absolute hobby box for Mrs. Toshi. At least Mrs. Toshi can have some fun ripping packs!

On a completely different subject, I noticed that you have a passion in regards to surfing. Mrs. Toshi and I were born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. In my youth, I had the pleasure and enjoyment of catching a wave here and there. My most memorable time was at the "Banzai Pipeline"!

                  Toshi

Patiently, I awaited for a whole week for an auction to end via eBay for a 2012 Topps Chrome Complete Insert set of Quarterback Rookie Reprint 1-21. This would conclude anymore purchases made by myself in regards to my 2012 Topps Chrome collection. As usual, a buyer would place bids here and there only to be countered by my high bid. Determined to win this set, I imagined that I had acquired the power to control the elements. Fictitiously I called upon a storm of brimstone and fire of Biblical proportions on my counterparts. Of course I had no such power and I would not harm anyone nor wish for such destruction. We have enough issues to manage without such sensational acts, currently the US has been pummeled on several occasions with the incoming snowstorms.

As the weeks became days, days to hours, and hours to minutes. I anxiously counted down the seconds. With great excitement, I utilized the sellars photo of this set to share with forum members of my endevours of completing a set via "Football Showcase". Once I receive my set, I will promptly replace the photo below with my set when I have it in my hands! I would like to take this opportunity and thank the many forum members whom answered my question and for those that support my threads.

Nice buddy I am currently working on this set as well, I have the Montana, Brees (rookie reprint), Simms and another. Well I shouldnt say I am currently working on it because I kinda gave up on it and decided to pick up the 2013 hyped players RC's, while they are less sought after compared to the 2012 players. So if you are needing any of these few I have let me know or know of anyone. I would be willing to trade them out for something of 2013 rookies like (Gio,Eifert,Lacey,Smith,Manuel,Woods,Franklin,Esco bar,Glennon,Ball etc.. you kinda have a idea now

                          And FINALLY! TATATAAAAAH!!!!

My last and final set arrived with Saturdays Mail. Unfortunately it took Mrs. Toshi and I, 24hrs. to post this as we are both suffering from our yearly winter flu in lovely NE Ohio. Yes, we took our flu shots, so it's not too bad, below, please enjoy the final piece to this puzzle. 2012 Topps Chrome Insert Complete Set Quarterback Rookie Reprint. Now I can finally say I have a true complete set of 2012 Topps Chrome Football!

By the way, this is my very 1st. Anniversary in collecting cards today. Exactly 1 year ago today, I decided to visit our LCS to purchase a 2010 Upper Deck Tools of the Trade Jersey Brett Favre, only to come home and find out it was the wrong card. It was a card of Brad Johnson!

Recently, I sent that card to Fuser as he collects Vikings cards. So in the end, it worked out well. A few days later, Mrs. Toshi and I went back to the LCS, and she bought me a pack of 2012 Platinum, and to my horror, a 2012 Certified! My horror was the fact that the Certified pack cost $10.00! Now here we are, a year later with a Complete Chrome Set and most importantly, I reached a significant milestone in my life! I now am part of the elite group of forum members of the worlds greatest online community "Card Collectors World"!

Thank you everyone in making my life, that much more meaningful. You have all inspired me to continue to strive for life's most precious secret. The meaning to life. "To live life to its fullest"

                          Toshi
