To my fellow forum members,
Just to update fellow rookie members, I am 46 years old, retired due to a work related accident, never watched sports at all until 2009, and only started collecting football cards in December of 2012. Collecting football cards was the last thing on my list, in fact, it was not on my list. At the behest of my therapists to find an interest, I slowly delved into this hobby, one card at a time.
When I first joined this site in 2013, I wondered outloud if I even belonged on a sports card forum. So much was going on that I was overwhelmed. Then to read into threads of hobbyists whom been collecting for decades, in my mind I asked; "Who am I kidding"!
Little by little, with much encouragement from all of you, I started with postings of my only hits, 2012 Black RPA Luck and some small but nice autos from 2012 Totally Certified. I recall everyone requesting for the TC Alfred Morris Auto for trade. Mrs. Toshi and I had no idea who he was. All I knew was that Mrs. Toshi felt his penmanship was beautiful, hence, she wanted to keep it. Only after a week did we realize who he was thanks to Brett, my daughters boyfriend whom introduced me to this hobby. My next step was to add some color commentary of which not only made sense, but became a necessary link to members as well as offering vital information in regards to the cards being showcased.
My first trade came in the way of viewing Schwoods thread of his beloved New England Patriots collection. I was shocked to see a card of Teddy Bruschi. I loved his fire and passion. As time went on, I also realized that Pacific Islanders being the majority of individuals in the NFL from where Mrs. Toshi and I were born were dominant in this sport. Mrs. Toshi is half Japanese and half Filipino, so to also be a fan of Bruschi made even more sense to me. I do realize my people excell in golf, tennis, and baseball. But to see a Japanese athlete in the NFL was akin to owning a 1911 T-206 Honus Wagner. Responding to Schwoods thread of my surprise to see a Bruschi card, Schwood became my very first trade on Card Collectors World.
Everything from that point on moved at the speed of light. From trades to gathering information, and to be sending/receiving card(s) and or sports memorabilia for no other reason except out of love for my fellow forum members became as common as a breath of fresh air. I stand here today as your brother writing a thread on a complete 2012 Panini Elite Rookie Hard Hats 65 Card Complete Set, something that was unthinkable a year ago. I could not have endeavored without all of your support, information, and the love for this hobby. I want to simply thank everyone, whom had touched my life with their love and care for me. This forum is the worlds greatest and most important site for sports card collectors. So without further adieu, please view my complete Hard Hat set.
Thank you,
Toshi
