  • The Old Year

    To my fellow forum members,

It's been away awhile since I've posted anything on CCW, don't worry, I'm fine and did not fall. I've just haven't seen a product that caught my eye this year, nor a specific player. At the beginning of the 2014 collecting season, it was all about Manziel! You couldn't buy a Johnny Football card for less than $100.00. At times cards of Manziel were hitting the $200.00 mark, especially at the begining of the collecting year. Currently, many collectors have seen the prices drop, it's not about how much you paid for a Manziel card, it's why would you buy one in the first place.

Jeremy Hill, Beckham Jr. to name just two rookie players, have sat well with collectors as well as having a affordable price/trade point. Most position players cards never reach the stratospheric financial displacement from a card of a well known and well, just an overall winning QB! These are as rare as well. Besides Brady, P. Manning, Rodgers, Brees, Wilson, and Luck, most struggle as a team in effort and quality play making abilities. Well, there's always next year. What about this year?

Looking back over the past twelve months, we should all contemplate, negotiate, and imitate the good that's been a blessing to us all. With the bad? Well, shit happens! There's no use in trying to control what you cannot control, so control what you can and pass the extra savings on to your fellow man, yes, just like a coupon. Taking care of you and your family is all of our number one priorities, especially YOU! If you were unable to work, can you imagine what life would be like? Just look at my situation, the difference is I just invested in my family for so long that when it was time for me to step back and retire, all the cogs in my wheels kept progressing forward. Don't get me wrong, I never ever thought that I would be injured and unable to work, literally retire at forty four years old. But this falls into the "I have no control over this situation" catergory. Yes, this sucks, but there are it's perks as well, we just have to find it within ourselves.

Ultimately, looking back, we should read and learn our history like a open book. This sounds cliche but doing so allows you the choice to repeat or not to repeat mistakes made. It also allows you this one important fact, repeating what was successful and building upon that concept. Many look forward to a new year of which I do as well, but learn from your history and others history to understand what direction to go in. This simple plan will only lead to a successful lifetime of happiness even when times are hard. I was once told that if I look back at the most difficult times my family and I went through, these were the most inspiring and happiest times ever. This is so true.

Going to Walmart, I've seen everything from entry level products up to the most popular products like Topps Chrome. Today, with Topps Platinum, I took a chance. Besides the inserts/parallels, I've found a product that I think looked pretty good. The card stock is not as up to par as Chrome is. I wonder why, especially when Platinum is touted a step ahead of Chrome by a very small margin. It's just not as popular as Chrome, but what is? I do like the usual retail exclusive orange parallel, it's called orange flame cards this year, I just don't see it. Can you? With nice die cuts and the usual X-Fractors, this years design has at the very least made it's debut a little better without too much of a compromise as last years Platinum. You be the judge.

Have a happy new year and many more to come, below is a break of a blaster and a rack pack.

I am easy, I collect any and all NFL cards. Individual players I really enjoy are Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Matt Ryan, Andrew Luck, RGIII, and Russell Wilson. My passion is Favre rookie cards and vintage cards.

It came from the Blaster box. I just find it unusual that a retail product would carry a redemption. It's a rare occurrence.

Yeah its rare. I only ever buy retail.since its hard.to.afford till tax.time. Ive only ever pulled 1 redemption out of a blaster of 2013 Topps Strata football. Was a Bronze rookie relic autograph of Markus Wheaton.
