Since I have a Silver Age collection, and only a few newer comics, I'm wondering who is hot right now as artists for Marvel and why?
For me, I have to go back to the old school days of comics...
Kirby, Ditko, and Bill Everett - Original artists of most of the Marvel Heroes...
John Romita - Took over Amazing Spiderman and was better than Ditko...
Jim Steranko - Career was too short though. Reminded me of Will Eisner Spirit/Kirby clone combined in Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD and a few others...
Neal Adams - His X-Men, Inhumans, Avengers work is some of the best...
Barry Windsor Smith - His first work in Daredevil made him look like a Kirby clone. Not satisfied, he developed his own style and is one of the best artists, ever seen his later New X-Men issues? No wonder he was only able to do one comic a year, and my favorite...
Frank Miller - Considered by some as a great artist. I prefer him as a comic/movie writer and movie director. Still, he changed Daredevil forever, and The Dark Knight series also...
John Byrne with Terry Austin - Excellent X-Men artists starting with issue # 108 I believe. However, without Austin as inker, X-Men may not have taken off like they did. Without Austin as inker, Byrne was never as good...
Mike McFarlane - Nuff Said.
Arthur Adams - His X-Men, Longshot, and Fantastic Four art is some of the best. I believe inked by Terry Austin...
Those guys stand out at the top of my list. Off the top of my head.
So who ROCKS now?
