Beckett Releases 2011 Eclipse Pricing

Beckett released pricing for the 2011 Press Pass Eclipse yesterday....and to sum it up in one word...... O U C H !!!!

With the cost of a single box around $110.00 (give or take $10.00), you are guaranteed three race-used and one autograph.

The average race-used is priced around $25.00 - $30.00 (that's for cards numbered to 100!) and the autographs are going around the same.

Oh sure, there are those guys/gals that opened the "hot box" with 11 hits and the collector that opened up a box with a signature series race-used of Danica, Johnson, or Dale Jr.

But......look at the numbers involved (based on a not-so-good box):

Three (3) race-used: $25.00 = $75.00

One (1) autograph: $25.00 = $25.00

TOTAL (based on FULL book) = $100.00

Okay, now you flip the pulls and the TRUE numbers come up as:

Three (3) race-used: $15.00 = $45.00

One (1) autograph: $15.00 = $15.00

Total ("flipped"): $60.00

OUCH!....you just lost $40.00 to $50.00 on that box.

Sure you have the base cards and inserts.....but are you really going to be able to make up $60.00-$70.00 on the base and inserts?

Press Pass did a fantastic job on this product!

I guess the hobby is becoming like the housing market....it's a buyer's market.

Not nothing new here, buddy! I stopped buying wax years ago for this same reason, and it's not just Press Pass, or this product in particular. Do you think Showcase, or Legends were worth the price asking per box? What about 5 Star? Truth is almost all products are a gamble, and for some that enjoy losing money on their investmests, just to have a few moments of fun, be my guest. I'll fill my collection from singles plucked off ebay for a fraction of the BV given to them, and I'm 100% happy in doing so. I let the other suckers lose on their breaks. These companies have been hosing us for years with value, or lack of it, so I don't support any of them with product purchases.

Oh, and anyone who takes what Beckett says seriously has to be silly.
