The only player I had an issue winning was Ellsbury in Center. Bourjos is BY FAR the best center fielder in American League, but for some reason this award tends to be the best offensive, defensive player award.

Dan, I agree with you about center field in that the wrong player got the GOLD GLOVE. However, I disagree with you on it should have been Bourjos. Personally, I think it should have gone to Adam Jones.

Kudos to PlacidoPolanco for winning the gold glove at TWO different positions. I wish there were more players like him in baseball. If you had 9 Polancos on your team, you wouldn't be on the highlight reel at Sportscenter, but all you would do is win!!! He is a classy player.

The only problem I have with this list is Andre Ethier. Sure he didn't make any errors but he an just an average Right Fielder haha. Oh well, we'll take it.

Peter Bourjos is just an animal in Center Field in my opinion lol

I can see that on Ethier but I don't think anyone got flat out snubbed or anything, I think for the most part the NL did a great job on their gold glove winners.

Evidently you haven't seen Adam Jones play. Without a doubt he is one of the best defensive center fielders in the game. Even though it has nothing to do with the GOLD GLOVE, he's a good hitter too.

I did get to watch Jones play a bit this season, and he has a GREAT arm, but based on everything involved in playing defense, Bourjos in my opinion is the best center fielder in the AL.

Jhonny Peralta was 4th in UZR and Asdrubal is 20th. So don't try and tell me that stat has any relevance.

I was never going to use UZR, and if Peralta would've won the award it would've been a joke, for the record.

Why did he get so snubbed though? Having the best range doesn't mean you are the best fielder, correct?

How does having the best range NOT mean you're better than the others? You get to balls other SS's can't even get to. Pretty sure that equals outs over base hits.

So according to you.... best range + flashiest plays doesn't = Gold Glove? That makes perfect sense.

Best range doesn't mean you are the best fielder. Elvis Andrus has great range but I wouldn't say he's one of the best fielders in 2011.

Cabrera is a great fielder, and I never said he wasn't. However I don't think he deserved a gold glove and those who voted didn't think so either (and Aybar obviously didn't win because of his offense)

That makes no sense. Best range certainly makes you a great fielder, regardless of error numbers.

Say his range is 20% better than every other SS. Let's say there's 24 balls in a season that fall into that 'extra 20% range' Asdrubal has.

Now let's say he gets outs on 50% of those plays in that 20% window, and gets 'errors' on the other 50%.

He now has 12 errors from those plays. 12 errors that would've been base hits against a regular SS in the first place. So how much do those 12 errors really mean? Either way, there's a guy on first base. On the flip side, he also just made 12 more outs than the regular SS would've made.

So you wanna tell me range doesn't make you a better fielder? Because in 24 AB's, that range just put a guy on 1B 12 times, and put a guy in the dugout 12 times....compared to the regular SS, where the guy is on 1B all 24 times because the SS couldn't get to the ball period.

I just said Cabrera is a great fielder, but he wasn't the best this season and didn't deserve a gold glove.
