    Jim Thome Agrees to Deal with the Phillies

    Phillies Agree To Sign Jim Thome: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com

    Jim Thome to going back to his old stomping grounds. The Phillies and Jim Thome have agreed to a one-year contract, reports MLB.com's Todd Zolecki. Jim Salisbury of CSNPhilly.com says the deal is worth $1.25MM. The contract is still pending a physical, which will take place on Saturday.

    He should get a lot of pinch hit opportunities and to relieve Ryan Howard a few times a month.

      He'll probably be an everyday 1B the 1st half of the season....I can't imagine Howard will be healthy for the start of the season next year.

          Before he makes a quick trip to the Dodgers

          I hope for the Phillies sake they don't have Thome playing defense...That would be a trainwreck

            I love it! My favorite player back with my favorite team. I know he is not the player he was, but at least he will hold down the fort until Howard comes back.

              Nice backup till Ryan Howard gets back!
