  • Am I the only one....?

I know everyone loves CERTIFIED autos, but I am partial to the ones that were just signed in person on a regular old base card. I know this effects the value b/c since it is not certified, you can't sell it at a higher value. As a collector (not investor), I love taking a card, knowing the player had it in their hands and signed it, and then gave it back.

Anyone else out there like me????
Favorite baseball players include: Mike Schmidt, Steve Carlton, Kirby Puckett, Pete Rose, Tyler Colvin Mark Appel
Favorite football players include: Peyton Manning, John Elway, Daunte Culpepper, Mike Alstott, Blake Bortles, and Dri Archer
Collecting: 2012 Topps Mini 1987 topps... non-certified autos (in person or through the mail), autographed cards with bible verses

To me, if I can meet a player in person and talk to them for like 15 seconds as they are signing the card in front of me, I would take that over any certified auto any day.

I like both. I do like the IP autos when I am keeping them for myself, but I don't do much with them if they are for someone else, as a lot would expect to see some sort of proof that you actually had the person sign the card.

The on-card certified autos are kind of nice as you know that the player has had the card in their hands as well.

        I'll collect either as well.

Every year I add to my Spring training autograph collection for that very reason....a lil chit-chat with a player you can cheer on all season, and have that signed card as a momento.

        Good times!

I love meeting athletes in person... however I don't typically have them sign their cards. Usually, I have them sign 8x10's, balls, pucks, or ticket stubs.

The only time I have them sign their cards is if I don't have anything else for them to sign.
