  • Players You Couldnt Stand On Your Favorite MLB Team

I did one for basketball which has been a fun thread so far, so I figured to start this one up for baseball too.

I am sure some people will love to bash current/former players who have donned their favorite MLB team's uniforms. Gladdy I am sure you will also bombard this thread with player names. LOL!

I know its harder in baseball since there are more players on a team plus the minor leagues compared to that of basketball.

In order of how much I cant stand them, here are 10 Angels who I wish never donned the Halo uniform. I cant stand any of these players below and cringe whenever I see them on the field. I am only counting players from 1994 on since that is the first Angels game I watched on tv and basically been following them ever since.

    My Top 10 Anti-Angels Players

Vernon Wells (Unfortunately 2011 to present) - Without a doubt no one else in Angels history can be #1 on my list. This has got to be the worst ever lopsided trade in MLB history. He is the Luke Walton of the Angels. Way overpaid, still has too many years left on contract, completely useless, and its hard to watch him when he is at bat. I rather have Jayson Werth or Alfonso Soriano on my team with their massive contract instead of Wells. This move deserved to get Tony Reagins fired. The Blue Jays General Manager should have gotten a raise for being able to pawn off Wells, instead he got fired too after pulling of this heist. LOL!

Gary Matthews Jr (2007 to 2009) - If it wasnt for Vernon Wells, this loser would be #1 on my list. Again another stupid pointless overpaid contract for a one year wonder. After three painful seasons, the Angels paid the Mets to take him off their hands. LOL!

Jeff Mathis (2005 to 2011) - Mathis was one of the prize prospects in the Angels minor leagues in the mid 2000s. The team refused to include Mathis in any trade when all stars like Miguel Cabrera and others were available. Thank goodness Bill Stoneman got fired because he refused to trade all these cant touch prospects who ended up sucking. Watching Mathis play was PAINFUL. He could barely hit over .200 and had the worst batting average for any player the past 2 seasons. Thankfully he was traded a month ago for Chris Iannetta.

Scott Kazmir (2009 to 2011) - Kazmir pitched really good when he was in Tampa Bay. He was a former 2 time All Star and led the AL in strikeouts in 2007. I was so excited when the Angels were able to get him for basically nothing. In his first 6 games he pitched for the Angels after the trade, he won 2 games and had a 1.73 ERA. I thought the Angels hit the goldmine for the next season. Sadly that was the highlight of Kazmir's Angel career. Injuries occured the following season and he only won 9 games and had a 5.94 ERA. He pitched once in 2011 before they sent him to the minors where he had a 17.02 ERA and was released shortly after.

Mo Vaughn (1999 to 2001) - He put some really good numbers while playing for the Angels. His Angel career started as he fell down the dugout steps in the first game of the season while going after a flyball and sprained his ankle. He put up 33 HRs, 108 RBIs, and had a .281 batting average in his first season. His second season he put up 36 HRs, 117 RBIs, and had a .272 batting average. He was injured and never played for them in 2001. He was overweight and was like the AL's version of Sammy Sosa striking out at will. He did not live up to his huge contract compared to his Red Sox numbers and couldnt bat over .300 with us. Plus he was not the Angels clubhouse leader he was paid to be. They traded him to the Mets for Kevin Appier.

Brian Fuentes (2009 to 2010) - The Angels solution for letting K-Rod leave to the Mets. I thought Fuentes sucked in Colorado, he was even more painful to watch as an Angel. His wind up for a pitch was so horrible and predictable. The Angels smartly traded him to the Twins for a player to be named later.

Fernando Rodney (2010 to 2011) - The Angels solution for getting rid of Brian Fuentes. LOL! Rodney was horrible, blew too many saves, and complained about not playing enough. He was thankfully relieved of his closer duties and replaced by a rookie.

Kevin Gregg (2003 to 2006) - Seriously everytime I saw him pitching in a game, he would give up a run. I was so happy when the Angels got rid of him.

Steve Finley (2005) - I have always liked Steve Finley. The only reason he is on this list is because he was horrible in his one lone season as an Angel. He put up 12 HRs, 54 RBS, and had a .222 batting average. We traded him to the Giants for Edgardo Alfonzo the next season.

Edgardo Alfonzo (2006) - We would have been better off keeping Steve Finley as a reserve outfielder. Alfonzo was so bad that he was released after just 18 games. He had 0 HRs, 1 RBI, and batted .100 during that time.

I think my list would be at least 75-players deep, but one sticks out over all the rest.

Yeah without a doubt Andruw Jones has to be #1 for the Dodgers.

Oh man! Lets see, for the Tigers

Todd Jones: He made every save situation to close, and he blew to many of them.

Jason Grilli: This guy seriously got boo'd out of town. The Tigers traded him because he was so bad at home one season and whenever he pitch he got boo'd like crazy. He was actually a really nice person though.

Jeremy Bonderman: Him and that freaking first inning...

Edgar Renteria: Can't believe how bad he was and the Tigers gave up Jurrjens for him.

Brandon Inge: The most overrated player in Detroit Sports History, this sums it up well Pure Michigan: Detroit Tigers - YouTube

Brad Thomas: He was awful, but they kept him for some reason.

          ANDY DIRKS: He stinks

          JIM LEYLAND: I hate him

          RYAN RABURN : Enough said

But at sad as that sounds, I would take Brandon Inge over Jeff Mathis anyday.

I would rather have Eric Munson come of retirement and play 3rd base instead of Inge

This one is hard b/c when they are on your team, you are rooting like crazy for them!

As a Phillies fan, I would say:

#1 Turd Wendell - I swear he was still on the Mets payroll when he came over after giving up 8th inning leads in two consecutive games to the Mets.

#2 Pat Burrell - I love him and can't stand him. Anti-Mr. Clutch. Even when he got his batting average around .280, many were bloop hits

#3 Mike Lieberthal - Anti-Mr. Clutch #2. If there were runners on 1st and 3rd with 1 out, I guarentee Lieberthal comes up and hits into a double play.

#4 Chan Ho Piece of Junk - Texas what were you thinking giving this guy 55mill for 5 years!

                  #5 Adam Eaton - Uggggggg!

I hope no one minds, but I am going to do it for the Nationals as well since they are my other favorite team. They haven't been around long, but I do have 5:

#1 Christian Guzman - guy is hard to like. He is a jerk and thinks he is better than everyone else. Not a team player.

#2 Vinny Castilla - He was a good player at one point in his career, it just wasn't with the Nationals. Pay a lot of money, get very little production.

#3 Lastings Milledge - tons of talent, tons of promise, no production

#4 Wily Mo Pena - see Milledge

#5 Chien Ming Wang - this could change, but at this point, 2 years, paid a lot of money and no production (due to injury). Hopefully he will rebound this year.

There might be others, that pop in my mind later. However, for now, the main two that come to mind are - REGGIE JACKSON (he spent one season with the "Birds", and then went to the Yankees - traitor) and ALBERT BELLE (he was no where near as productive for the "Birds" as he was for the W. Sox & Indians - a big flop).

The main items Im looking to trade for are
                      Baseball HOFers Autos I need
                      Orioles Autos I need
                      Baseball HOFers GU I need

                      Vintage Orioles I need 1950s through 1970
