Reds To Sign Ryan Madson : MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com

If any doubt remained about the Reds' intentions for the 2012 season, it disappeared this evening -- they're going for it. GM Walt Jocketty continued adding to his new-look pitching staff by agreeing to terms with Ryan Madson on a one-year deal. Scott Boras represents the right-hander, who figures to become the closer in Cincinnati's bullpen.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com first reported the move (on Twitter). Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports that the deal is worth exactly $10MM.

He will be a good fit there. Glad we got Papelbon, but I just hope he isn't a bust.

This is a bad move for Madson, but great for the Reds. Of course he's making more money in this one year than he did last year with the Phills, but he's taking a risk on being injured and losing the chance at a long-term/multi-year contract like the one we (Phillies) signed Papelbon for. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the closer we picked up, but Madson was good to us and I'd like to see him succeed (just maybe in the AL? )
I collect these guys (please PM me):

          Roy Halladay: 241/3731 = 6.46%
Please PM me if you have any low #ed 2010 Bowman Chrome refractors of Halladay (#180)!!!
          Hunter Morris: 55/119 = 46.22%
Looking for low #ed 2011 Bowman Chrome refractors of Morris
