  • Jonathon Niese, Mets Agree To $25.5M Deal

AP source: Niese, Mets agree to $25.5M deal - MLB - Yahoo! Sports

I have no clue who this is. LOL!

In the Mets’ first major move since resolving the lawsuit by the trustee in the Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme, the team agreed with Niese on a $25.5 million, five-year contract, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity Wednesday because the deal had not yet been announced. The contract includes club options for 2017 at $10 million and 2018 at $10.5 million.

Niese is a pretty good, young pitcher. Good move.

I didn't think Niese was that great to get this kind of extension from a broke team.

I agree that it's a lot of money, but the Mets aren't known for making wise business decisions. I meant that he has some talent, as a young pitcher.

It is the same kinda contract Derek Holland signed with the Texas Rangers. It isn't a bad deal it is more of a fair deal for the player where those two option years if he pitches well could end up being a bargain if not? well he was already under the teams control so not a real big deal.
