  • Tigers Win With a Walkoff Hit

The Detroit Tigers won the season opener against the Boston Red Sox 3-2. Justin Verlander was outstanding today pitching 8 shutout innings with 7 strikeouts and 1 walk while giving up only 2 hits. After a blown save by Jose Valverde in the 9th inning, which was his first blown save in his last 51 chances, the Tigers battled back in the bottom of the 9th to win on an Austin Jackson walkoff Single.

The Tigers next game is Saturday the 7th when Doug Fister will go against Josh Beckett.

Great game. I was glad to see Austin Jackson have a good overall game. One of my favorite former Yankee prospects. He looked pretty patient at the plate, hopefully that will last all year. I don't know who had the last word on the Red Sox's bullpen, but they have got guys in the wrong places.

Jon Lester is on my fantasy team, but at least I didnt get the loss. Closing out games is going to be an issue for BoSox now.

I think the Tigers are the A.L. favorite every year. They have another slugger to go along with baseball's best pitcher, Verlander. Tigers vs Cardinals -2012 World Series!
