Michael Pineda To Undergo Labrum Operation: MLB Rumors - MLBTradeRumors.com

Michael Pineda has a tear in his right labrum and will undergo arthroscopic surgery next Tuesday, according to Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News. The 23-year-old will likely miss a full year, MLB.com's Bryan Hoch tweets. The Yankees acquired Pineda in an offseason trade that sent their top hitting prospect to the Mariners, but the right-hander has yet to pitch his first inning in pinstripes.

This could be very, very bad.

Mariners got the better end of the trade.

There is no clear winner in this trade as of yet. Look up Jose Campos stats. He is probably the best player in the whole trade so far. The Yankees should option Phil Hughes to Triple-A to show him he isn't fit for the big leagues at the moment, if he has any options left. It worked for Ivan Nova. Move David Phelps to the rotation and have Andy Pettitte take over for Freddy Garcia when he returns, thus moving Garcia into a long reliever role or possible tradebait. It is easy for me to look at the positives since Kentucky won the Championship this year.

I feel great about unloading 50 Pineda rookies now. I hope he's able to pitch next year. He has a lot of talent.
