    The Diamondbacks and catcher Miguel Montero have agreed to a five-year, $60MM contract extension, reports Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports. The deal is expected to be announced at a press conference tomorrow.

    If he plays like he did in 2011 it'll be a solid deal.

    I think it is too much for the Dbacks to be paying. He is not in the caliber of Victor Martinez whose deal this resembles. The Dbacks got suckered into the Yadier Molina comparisons who got an outrageous deal by the Cards who had to show fans they were willing to pay for players after Pujols left. I'm glad Montero will be staying, but not at the price. For $12 million you want a guy who will be the 3/4 hitter in a good lineup. Montero is a 6 hitter on a good squad. This means that Stephen Drew is a goner at the end of the year since they'll have no money to pay him.
