  • Max Scherzer Roughed Up in Tigers 9-6 Loss

The Detroit Tigers lost to the Cleveland Indians tonight 9-6.

The Tiger started out by giving the Indians 3 runs after an error by Brennan Boesch with 2 outs led to a 3-run home run and Detroit was down 3-0 early.

Don Kelly put the Tigers on the board in the 3rd inning with a solo home run; It's his 1st of the season.

After Max Scherzer gave up a 2-run home run, Miguel Cabrera got the Tigers a run back in the 4th inning with a solo home run; It's his 12th of the season.

Max Scherzer struggled today going 4 and 1/3 innings, giving up 8 runs (5 earned) on 7 hits, walking 3 and striking out 2 batters.

Jhonny Peralta led off the 5th inning with a double, followed by Bryan Holaday hitting a single to get his first hit in his major league career. Quintin Berry followed that up with a RBI double, and Ramon Santiago hit a ground ball to score a run. Miguel Cabrera was up next and hit a RBI double, and scored on a Prince Fielder single to make it a 8-6 game.

The Tigers bullpen went on to give up only 1 run in 4 and 2/3 innings, but the offense couldn't score anymore runs.

The Tigers finish up a 3 game series with the Indians tommorrow as Casey Crosby (0-1 16.20 ERA) takes on Derek Lowe (7-3 3.06 ERA).

I hate Leyland as much as anyone, but why is it his fault at this point? How about Fire Dombrowski? This roster was put together by him, and the depth of the Tigers is laughable.

They guy that shocked the world with fattie. He isn;t going anywhere. When you step up with the big boys it is tough to put together a surrounding cast.

Nobody better then Cashman who finds guys like Brosius, Swisher, Charlie Hayes and others etc to be great players after be cast offs and nobody wants.

Dombrowski didn't get Fielder, that was all Mr. Ilitch. I'm not complaining about getting him though, I liked the move. However, Dombrowski has generally failed drafting players, while he's made good trades, the Tigers have Castellanos and Turner in the minors with a real future and that's about it.

I'm just saying I can't blame Leyland when his options are "Do I play Don Kelly or Matt Young" or "Do I play Omir Santos or Bryan Holaday" or even "Do I play Danny Worth or Ramon Santiago" (and I'm a Santiago fan)

Injuries have really hurt the options they have, it's not an excuse to use for why they're losing because every team deals with injuries, but with so many guys out, Leyland can't do much with the options he has.

It's pretty awful. They have some talent, but almost all of it is in A-Ball and the track record of this team would indicate most of them probably won't be that good. Their 1 gem right now is Nick Castellanos, who just got promoted to Double-A.

Leyland doesnt know how to manage and it seems players are tired of him. They need a good manager
