Mark Prior allowed his first two runs for Triple-A Pawtucket on Monday, but also recorded four strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings of work.
Prior has now punched out a remarkable 19 hitters in just eight innings of work, while walking five. 79% of the outs he's recorded (19-of-24) have now come via the strikeout. He's been able to command all of his pitches effectively, his velocity has sat consistently in the 90-93 range, and his devastating curveball appears to have returned. He's getting closer to the point where he may be deemed major league ready, which would be one heck of a story considering the injuries he's had to battle through.
