Johan Santana Hits DL With Ankle Soreness - Baseball Nation
---
He hasn't been the same guy at all since the no-hitter.
Mets lefthander Johan Santana threw a no-hitter June 1. And through the end of June he had a 2.76 ERA in 16 starts and looked like he had completed a comeback from shoulder surgery that forced him to miss the entire 2011 season.
This month? Not so much. In three July starts, Santana posted a ghastly 13.50 ERA in 12⅔ innings and an even ghastlier 2.605 WHIP. That includes a poor outing against the Dodgers Friday night in which he allowed six runs in three innings. After the game, manager Terry Collins said:
"He’s not hurt, let’s put it that way," Collins said, adding that placing Santana on the disabled list or skipping his next start would be among the options the team would discuss to "get some energy back in his arm."
