  • Dodgers Trade for Hanley Ramirez!

Finally the Dodgers have done something! Hopefully this Ramirez will spark the Dodgers just like the last Ramirez they traded for. This probably means Ned Colleti is pushing hard for Ryan Dempster.

    From Jon Morosi:

BLOCKBUSTER: Hanley Ramirez & Randy Choate to Dodgers, Nathan Eovaldi & Scott McGough to Marlins, sources tell @Ken_Rosenthal and me.

Dodgers get Hanley Ramirez in deal with Marlins - Yahoo! Sports

Wow great move by Dodgers. Marlins are going to fire sale their whole team for the third time in their franchise history. Nice move by Magic Johnson assuming Hanley's contract. Dodgers now have another superstar to put besides Matt Kemp and Clayton Kershaw.

Seeking to revive a stagnant offense, the Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired third baseman Hanley Ramirez and reliever Randy Choate from the Miami Marlins in exchange for pitcher Nathan Eovaldi and a minor leaguer, a source familiar with the trade said late Tuesday night.

Ramirez will play shortstop for the Dodgers in the short term until Dee Gordon recovers from a torn thumb ligament, then move to third base.

The trade is the second in two days for the underachieving Marlins, who dealt second baseman Omar Infante and pitcher Anibal Sanchez to the Detroit Tigers on Monday.

Ramirez, 28, is batting .246 with 14 home runs and 47 RBIs for the Marlins. He was moved off shortstop this winter, when the Marlins acquired Jose Reyes in an attempt to remake the club in its inaugural season at Marlins Park. The rebuild has not worked.

The Dodgers believe the skilled Ramirez will benefit from the change of scenery and recapture the form that made the three-time All-Star one of the National League’s better players at the end of the last decade. They will assume all of Ramirez’s contract, or about $38 million through the 2014 season.

Choate, a veteran left-hander, has a 2.49 ERA in 44 appearances for the Marlins.

The Marlins, who received top-rated pitching prospect Jacob Turner from the Tigers, continued to rework their pitching staff. Eovaldi is a 22-year-old right-hander who was 1-6 with a 4.15 ERA in 10 starts for the Dodgers. From Nolan Ryan’s hometown of Alvin, Texas, Eovaldi was one of the team’s premier prospects.

That's all the Dodgers had to give up?

Hopefully Hanley decides to try again.

If the Marlins had put as much effort into winning as they did building that monstrosity in right field.......

What's next? Maybe they'll work out a trade sending Ozzie Guillen to Cuba for a Top Prospect.

It's ridiculous to shell out the $$$$ to build a potential winner in the years to come then fire sale it all before the first season is over. The Marlins couldn't fill seats before, how will they do it now? Laurie will just keep taking his welfare check from MLB and getting richer.

This 100% alienates the fanbase forever, IMO.

No one went in the first place. Then you go out and rebuild the entire franchise. Finally try and convince fans to get behind the team.........and you blow it up in 6 months.

Could you imagine the frenzy now if the Marlins had won the Pujols lottery? The main reason he didn't sign was because the Marlins wouldn't give him a no trade clause. That should be a red flag to any player thinking of signing with Miami. That, and Pujols would never tolerate Guillens foul mouth.

I would go to every Marlins game as long as I could see Giancarlo Stanton hit moon shots off the scoreboard and that ridiculous spinning dolphin thing in center field.

So much for the Miami Marlins lol. If Hanley can get his head straight again, the Dodgers will become a force.

MLB Network (I think it was them) gave a few clips of local sports talk radio and the majority of Miami fans seem to be livid, and I don't blame them.
