The Detroit Tigers beat the Toronto Blue Jays today 4-1.
The Blue Jays took an early 1-0 lead, but the Tigers came back in the bottom of the 2nd inning after a walk by Delmon Young (yes, he really drew another walk), then a double by Ryan Raburn to give runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs for Jhonny Peralta who hit a 3-run home run; it's his 7th of the season and gave the Tigers a 3-1 lead.
Doug Fister pitched well today. He went 8 innings, giving up 1 run on 7 hits, walking 2 and striking out 9 batters; he earned his 5th win of the season.
Jhonny Peralta added another run for the Tigers in the 9th inning with a solo home run; it's his 2nd of the day and 8th of the season to give the Tigers a 4-1 lead.
Jose Valverde came in and pitched 1-2-3 9th inning to earn his 20th save of the season and got the Tigers the win.
The Tigers open up a 3 game road series with the Boston Red Sox tommorrow as Max Scherzer (10-5 4.49 ERA) takes on Clay Buchholz (8-3 4.93 ERA).
