That's his point. Give Cleveland that money and they're just as good as Detroit. Main reason MLB is the biggest joke sport in America. Uneven playing field.

Just because you spend a lot of money doesn't mean you'll win a lot of games. The Angels, Marlins and Dodgers are great examples of that.

And FYI...outside of the Marlins WS, what organization with a tiny budget has ever won the World Series? Case closed.

Tigers & Anibal Sanchez Agree to a 5 Year Deal
The Detroit Tigers did what most people expected them to do, according to Bob Nightengale the Tigers and Anibal Sanchez have agreed to a 5 year $80 million dollar contract.
Sanchez is a beneficiary of inflation on the free agent market this winter. He is slated to be the #4 in the Tigers rotation behind Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, and Doug Fister. With this move, it's also expected the Tigers will now look to trade Rick Porcello, and Drew Smyly will be their #5 starter.
Last season, Sanchez was 9-13 with a 3.86 ERA and 1.27 WHIP, with the Tigers he was 4-6 with a 3.74 ERA and 1.29 WHIP and in the postseason, Sanchez went 1-2 with a 1.77 ERA and 0.98 WHIP.
Given the inflation in player salaries now, I'm ok with the deal as long as money is still on the table for Justin Verlander to sign an extension.
