  • Lincecum & Giants Avoid Arbitration

Good thing the Giants finally got a deal or else could have had to pay an extra couple million. I dont know why they aren't willing to pay him $13 million. He's a back to back Cy Young

For the amount of money that the Giants have paid some players (*cough* Barry Zito *cough*) you would think they would actually be smart enough to pay the ony player that they cant afford to lose.

After this contract is up, i'd bet he gets his longterm deal, if he's getting this much now, i can only imagine what he'll yield in two years

I doubt he'd get a long term deal from anyone.. His body type and motion will warn off all the GMs from giving him more than a 3 or 4 year deal..

If I were a GM i'd take the 'risk'. Guys like Barry Zito & Jason Schmidt (sorry Jesse) have recieved long term big money deals than went sour, i see no reason why a legit #1 probably considered the best in baseball cant get a long term deal, but if thats the case..

That's part of the reason he only got a 2 year deal now and guys like Longoria got a 6 year deal after 6 games.. He weighs 100 and nothing and has a high stress motion.. If he had an arm problem and loses his velocity then he wouldn't be half of the pitcher he is.. Then they'd have 2 Zito contracts.. Not that I think he will not have a long career, cause I think he's one of those guys that will just be able to pitch no matter what the "scientists and statisticians" say.. I wish that these guys like Lincecum, Bruce, Fielder, Braun, Hanson, etc would just sign 10 year deals for 25 million and be happy with it.. If they ever have any hopes of winning, how could a team win when they are half of the teams payrol.. After all they could be working at a 7-11 making 8 dollars an hour.. Contracts are out of control and they need to be controlled, but that will never happen.

Type of motion and pitching mechanics didnt stop Dontrelle Willis from getting an overpaid contract.

This is what we call a failed reasoning of trying to give confidence to a player, that Willis contract costed us Granderson some say. Then again Robertson and Bonderman's contracts look just as bad right now

Also, some think when DTrain got alittle stronger and put weight onto his once stingy body, that messed up his delivery, thus why he has had 1 quality start in about 3 years

When he first came out, Willis was a cant miss prospect. But most commentators said the way he pitches will catch up to him down the line. When he was on the Marlins his first few seasons, he was good.
