  • Question For the Forum Regarding High-End Break

I'm looking to host a high-end break using '13 Topps Triple Threads. I'd like to do the 18-box case and, as I understand it, there are 36 hits per 18-box case. I'm thinking of doing this one up as a hit break instead of a team break. Also looking into doing $100-$110 per slot. Would throw in base and inserts, of course. Thinking of doing it random style. Maybe pull the cards live first and then randomize the names live. Would also likely take advance deposits to spread out the cash flow so participants don't get nailed all at once.

What are your thoughts? Too much $ to spend? Too high risk? Team slots better?

    Thanks for your input!

I think you would have to do it as a hit break. To many cards feature players from multiple teams. You could randomize the hits 1-36. Then a second part to the break for all the base by team. Run it like two breaks. You could randomize the teams also so they all get sold. This would lower the cost for everybody. And you wouldnt have to be in one to be in the other. The gamblers going for the hits and those with less cash can vie for the base, serial numbered, and the plates.
I collect a little bit of everything. But, if I never get back to you, your probably on Ignore!!

Im up for a team randomizer only for the fact of lowering the price significantly. Whats a case cost?..in other words, how much we lookin at per spot with a team randomizer break?

Well, if we do it purely on teams, then the average slot price actually increases to $130 - $150 per team. I'd have to wait until a good finalized checklist comes out to properly weight the slot prices. If I had to guess off of the top of my head, teams like the Yankees would be upwards of $250 per slot just based on the sheer amount of big hits they tend to flood the market with while teams like the Twins, whose hits are harder to come by, would hang down around the $50 mark. If we do it the way Dave suggests (random hits with 36 slots in one break, base/inserts with 30 team slots in the other), then the team slot prices would go down considerably, while I would average out the hit slots.

.... not sure then, im probably out either way....too much for me.

I get in on Ebay case breaks once in a while, but i only jump on $12-20 teams and I'll get hits here and there.....and thats an iffy chance when I do that. I guess the guys that do those breaks count on the Yanks and Washington bringin the major cost of the case.

          Oh well, good luck.

That's part of the reason that I'm thinking of doing something like a down payment or monthly installments or something. That way participants won't have to get hit all at once if they don't want to.
