BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox on Wednesday placed pitcher John Lackey on the disabled list with a right biceps strain and, as expected, activated shortstop Stephen Drew, optioning 23-year-old Jose Iglesias to Triple-A Pawtucket to clear a spot.
The Lackey move was made retroactively to April 7, meaning he can return anytime after April 22. The Red Sox recalled right-handed reliever Alex Wilson from Pawtucket to take his place on the roster.
