  • Max Scherzer Wins AL Cy Young Award

    Detroit Tigers righthander Max Scherzer was an overwhelming winner of the American League Cy Young Award in balloting by the BBWAA that was announced on MLB Network.

    Scherzer (21-3, 2.90 ERA) was named first on 28 of the 30 ballots submitted by two writers representing each league city, was second on one ballot and third on the other to score 203 points, based on a tabulation system that rewards seven points for first place, four for second, three for third, two for fourth and one for fifth. He was the only pitcher listed on every ballot.

      bbwaa's site has the ballots from everyone. Both Detroit writers (*facepalm*) gave him a 5th place vote.
